Welcome to Yahara Karate
Yahara Karate or Karatenomichi Great Britain as we are officially known is the official representative of 
Mikio Yahara and his organsiation the 'Karatenomichi Sekai Renmei' in the United Kingdom. We chose the name 'Yahara Karate' for both its simplicity and its obvious link to our Chief Instructor and his teaching methodology.
Our philosphy is simple in that we seek to return Shotokan Karate to the halcyon days of the 1960's and 1970's Japan Karate Association - whilst under the tutelage of Yahara Sensei's own teacher Masatoshi Nakayama. Our ideal of karate is dynamic, fast, strong, spirited, realistic karate; precisely the karate that Mikio Yahara is renowned for, both as the legendary tournament competitor and as one of the world's most charismatic and sought after instructors. We practice 'Yahara Karate'.
We pride ourselves on our strong links to Japan and the fact that we are not a 'sport karate' bod
y but an 'institute' or 'academy' where traditional karate is practised and researched by all from the very beginner through to the instructors cadre and the Chief Instructor himself. We believe that karate should be left to those wearing gi's and not politicians or businessmen.
